Effective March 31, 2012, Robert Franklin Moyer, will step down as the General Manager of Ocean’s Eleven casino, in San Diego, California. This is one of the news in the industry that even online casino players, particularly from California, know so much about. Moyer spent 15 years as general manager of the casino, but his experience in the industry goes back to his childhood.
He got exposed to the game of poker as a child with family members, and when he joined the Navy, he held poker games on the ship and hustled pool in exotic ports. Right after his US Navy career, Robert Moyer has decided to put up his own poker room and since then, has bought and sold several casino properties in the state. Imagine if online casino games like poker came out during Robert Franklin Moyer’s time, he would be the richest online casino player today.
Because of his skills and experiences, he was even hand-picked by Haig Kelegian, Bob Carter and Dan Dreger when they bought Jerry’s Room, which eventually turned to Ocean’s Eleven casino. Colleagues and friends see him as a talented man and a good leader. To prove this, under his watch, Jerry’s Room has turned from a 5-table room to a 50-table casino, expanding and building a solid reputation in the industry at the same time. He also gave attention to women poker players, creating the California State Ladies Championship as well as other friendly tournaments and businesses in the county.
To give honor and celebrate his years in Ocean’s Eleven, an official retirement party will be held on February 25, 2012 at the Elks Lodge, near Ocean’s Eleven casino.
